First Responders

You must be 18 years of age; high school graduate or GED; valid Colorado drivers license; and live or work within the district boundaries and be available to respond. A prospective member must attend six (6) training sessions over a 120 day period, complete an application, pass a background investigation, and be voted in by current members to enter a one (1) year probationary status. During this probationary period, the member shall begin to learn the skills of fire suppression, rescue and first response through hands-on LFPD sponsored training and is required to become certified in one area of expertise: Wildland Firefighter, Structure Firefighter, or Emergency Medical Technician. The current training commitment is one evening training for medical and one Saturday training for fire monthly, with specialized training for wildland, structure or medical. Additional training consists of joint mutual aid exercises and in-house exercises.

Logistics

You must be 18 years of age; high school graduate or GED; valid Colorado drivers license; and live or work within the district boundaries. A prospective member must complete an application, pass a background investigation, and be voted in by current members. Logistics members may volunteer to run base radio and communications operations; provide responder rehab; cleaning and maintenance; fundraising; supplies; restocking; apparatus; special projects; inventory equipment; report assistance; public education; newsletter; website; and special projects. The current commitment is 3 hours a month.
